Orchard View

Project Description: a new extension to a Grade II listed converted barn in the Kent countryside.

Project Location: Lower Rainham, Kent

Orchard View is one of our architectural projects in the Kent countryside: an extension to a Grade II listed converted barn designed to enhance light, functionality, and overall enjoyment of the space. Set within a picturesque farmstead, this project respects the sensitive nature of the site and its historical significance in relation to the original farmhouse. The extension features carefully detailed black stained weatherboarding, a red brick base, and slate effect roof tiles, all chosen to harmonise with the existing context and local vernacular. Conservation rooflights have been thoughtfully incorporated to match the original structure, ensuring that natural light floods the interior without compromising the barn’s historic character.

This sensitive approach not only improves the functionality of the space but also enhances its aesthetic appeal, allowing residents to fully appreciate the beauty and heritage of their surroundings.
