Project Description: roof extension with orangery to existing bungalow to create a large four-bedroom detached family home.
Project Location: Rochester, Kent
This recent architectural project close to Rochester’s High Street features an elegant roof extension within a conservation area, thoughtfully designed to complement the Victorian detailing of its surroundings. The extension showcases ornate stonework and period-appropriate materials, seamlessly blending with the historic character of the neighbourhood. Elevated above the street scene, the extension provides a distinctive viewpoint while improving the streetscape’s historic integrity from what was previously a one-storey post-war bungalow. Additionally, a striking black timber orangery to the rear adds a contemporary yet sympathetic touch, offering a modern space that harmonizes with the Victorian aesthetic. This project exemplifies a careful balance of development and preservation, enhancing Rochester’s architectural heritage.
